I spend the morning stomping the stupid out of several prospective plans. Stomp stomp stomp. At one point I was heard to say, \u201clook, don\u2019t imagine that you can hurt my feelings here. We\u2019re talking about technology and I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019m right. If I\u2019m wrong, then show me how I\u2019m wrong \u2013 but please don\u2019t worry about things (like hurting my feelings) that just aren\u2019t going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vignette 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My customer asked my opinion on a bill of goods from a third party, totaling $400k. I corrected it down to the $270k that they actually needed. They they bought it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s some sort of a personal record. It\u2019s also pretty scary. Hope it works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vignette 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Went to jiu-jitsu this evening, and got hit with a sneaky armlock. How sneaky? My opponent was working \u2013 working \u2013 working \u2013 and then cries out (a la Pink Floyd) \u201cMONEY!\u201d right as he locks it in and I start the pre-emptive tapping that one does when you don\u2019t need them to actually crank the shoulder to make a point. I totally had no idea that it was about to happen \u2013 and he was, like, warming up his victory cry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Damn. Owned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vignette 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the bar, I read that the executives responsible for the Bhopal disaster have finally been brought to justice. In case you\u2019ve forgotten, back in the 80\u2019s, a chemical plant farted and killed 3,000 people in the slums of India. It also sickened perhaps a total of a half million \u2013 who have since been compensated to the tune of $500 apiece. The penalty? About $2k for each of the executives responsible \u2013 and maybe some jail time. Maybe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider that, when we talk about how BP might be fined \u2013 like \u2013 a third of the $10B dividends they\u2019re paying out right now for crapping the biggest crap ever in the gulf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vignette 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way home from dinner (I walked the three blocks from the hotel), I was propositioned by the scariest looking streetwalker I\u2019ve ever seen in my life. \u201cWhere you headed? With your wife? You don\u2019t want to have a good time? Can you help me out for gas then? I\u2019m on E\u2026\u201d Yeesh. Poor girl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
