They called her at 7pm on a Sunday because, as she put it, there was a woman trying to die and doing a pretty decent job at it. The second in command doctor was freaking out \u2013 and apparently the chain stops at my wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s the most important thing that makes your phone ring?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So <a href=\"http:\/\/redmed.livejournal.com\/\">redmed<\/a> went in and did her damndest \u2013 operating \u2013 thinking \u2013 and finally doing some large number of chest compressions (\u201cI can tell I\u2019ve been working out\u201d) before they finally \u201ccalled it,\u201d and pronounced the woman dead. The woman\u2019s daughter was visible from where <a href=\"http:\/\/redmed.livejournal.com\/\">redmed<\/a> was doing the compressions \u2013 on the bed, with said second in command spotting her so she wouldn\u2019t fall. She would dedicate sets to the daughter, to the father of the baby, etc. \u201cThis one\u2019s for that relative right there. Live.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/redmed.livejournal.com\/\">redmed<\/a> is now sitting next to me drinking tea, reading recipes online, and occasionally needing a hug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Me?
